BioI was born in Florida, raised in Alabama, and educated (such as it was) in the Boston area and in London. I've worked in the Boston area as a research assistant, secretary, and technical writer; in Tokyo as a "systems analyst" and freelance editor; in Cambridge, England, as a technical writer; in Thailand as an instructor in linguistics and freelance writer and editor; and in Nepal as a fledgling field linguist. In September 2004, I started a Ph.D. program in linguistics at UMass Amherst, and I use way too many semicolons for any one person.
